For a country with so much to offer and ecosystems ranging from deserts to coral reefs a trip to the Dominican Republic is definitely a bargain considering it’s one of the cheapest tropical destinations. The most famous areas where tourists usually stay are Puerto Plata, La Romana, Samana, and Punta Cana but there’s much more to do in the country than spend your entire trip at one of these places. Santo Domingo, the capital, is classified as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

Santo Domingo is full of history. For instance an area called Ciudad Colonial which is located in the capital is the oldest colonial city center in the New World. It was visited by Colombus himself and there’s a bronze statue of him there. Other places to see in Santo Domingo are the First Cathedral of America, Ozama Fort, and Alcazar De Colon. Punta Cana is arguably the most visited of the cities in the Dominican Republic thanks to the presence of many five star hotels and even golf courts. The hotels have amazing swimming pools and some of them merge with the Caribbean Sea. It also has many beaches, obviously.

If you’re a fan of architecture be sure to visit the town of Altos de Chavon. The town was built in the 1970s and designed by an Italian architect with the intention of giving it the feel of a 16th century European settlement. The town also lots of local shops where you can buy things as well as art galleries.

Playa Rincon, located at the edge of Samana Bay, the beach will feel straight out of a fairytale as it is almost bordered by a jungle. The beach is a beautiful place to relax and tan but as you swim deeper it becomes wilder providing an exciting experience. Lake Enriquillo is one of the spots that tourists rarely visit. It is the largest lake in the entire Caribbean and contains wildlife such as flamingos, iguanas, and crocodiles, but the trip from the hotels and resorts in Punta Cana usually gets in the way of tourists who are more than satisfied to enjoy the luxury of the resorts. Samana Bay is another destination you should try to include in your trip. There you can see whales during their migration between the months of January and February.

With wildlife that you’re not likely to see elsewhere and different cities that provide different experiences the Dominican Republic sure seems like an interesting choice for a lovely vacation.  air conditioner tampa
